Meeting held on the role of ski resorts and sporting events in developing winter tourism

Jointly organized by the Organization of Turkic States and the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States, a meeting was held on the role of ski resorts and sporting events in the development of winter tourism.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Organization of Turkic States and representatives of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States.

In his speech, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Mirvohid Azimov stated that cooperation in the field of tourism in the Turkic world had entered a new stage. He emphasized that winter tourism and winter sports competitions play an important role in the economies of the Turkic states. In this regard, he noted that the implementation of joint projects, the organization of joint competitions and the development of unified tourism routes are of strategic importance. Azimov also stated that one of the priority areas of the Organization of Turkic States is to turn the Turkic states into an integrated and competitive tourism destination operating within a common approach at the international level.

Secretary General of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States Orhan Badalov drew attention to the importance of strengthening coordination among the ski resorts of the Turkic states, noting that sharing experience and joint marketing initiatives would contribute to the formation of a common tourism brand in the future. Badalov emphasized that the Union's core purpose is to develop sustainable cooperation mechanisms among member resorts, improve service quality and position the Turkic world as one of the attractive destinations for both winter and summer tourism.

Adviser to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan Kenan Guluzade stated that international sporting events hold a special place in the development of winter tourism and play an important role in increasing tourist appeal. He said that organizing winter sports events within the framework of cooperation with international sports federations and organizations has become an effective marketing tool for promoting the country's tourism potential and has positively contributed to strengthening the country's image. Guluzade also emphasized that such meetings form an important platform for deepening the exchange of experience among the Turkic states, increasing the promotion of events in member countries, encouraging joint initiatives, developing a unified communication strategy and strengthening mutual support.

During the meeting, the development of a joint marketing strategy in the field of winter and mountain tourism among the Turkic states, the promotion of investment opportunities, vocational training, the expansion of cooperation and other issues were discussed.

As part of the event, the official website of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States was presented to the participants.

The Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States, established with the support of the Organization of Turkic States, currently comprises eight member resorts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
