First Summit of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States held
On 12 July, with the support of the Organization of Turkic States, the First Summit of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States was held.
The main purposes of the event were: to strengthen the common cultural, historical and geographical ties among the ski resorts of the Turkic states under the umbrella of the Union, to encourage the mutual development of mountain and winter tourism, to ensure sustainable economic growth in the fields of winter and summer tourism, to establish cooperation partnerships and to support the promotion of the Union's member mountain resorts.
In addition, contributing to the development of ski tourism among the Turkic states, encouraging the exchange of experience and increasing the appeal and competitiveness of the Turkic countries in this field were also among the objectives.
The Summit was held at Shahdag Ski Resort with the participation of officials of the Organization of Turkic States and the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as managers and representatives of mountain and ski tourism resorts from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan.
Within the framework of the Summit, panel sessions and various presentations were held on the development of mountain and winter tourism in the member countries, overcoming seasonality, promoting winter sports, improving the quality of tourism education and training new specialist personnel.
During the event, membership certificates were presented to the newly joined resorts, and the establishment of the Ski Journalists Club within the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States was officially launched.
The Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States was officially established in September 2024 with the support of the Organization of Turkic States. The Union currently includes Shahdag Ski Resort (Azerbaijan), Amirsoy Ski Resort (Uzbekistan), Shymbulak Ski Resort (Kazakhstan) and Uludağ Ski Resort (Türkiye).
