On 23 September, a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States was signed in Istanbul.
According to the document, the term presidency and secretariat of the Union for its first two-year period were transferred to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by representatives of ski resorts from Azerbaijan ("Shahdag" Ski Resort), Türkiye (Uludağ Ski Resort), Uzbekistan (Amirsoy Ski Resort) and Kazakhstan (Shymbulak Ski Resort).
During the meeting, the participating delegations delivered presentations on the potential and tourist appeal of the ski resorts they represent, highlighting their development opportunities.
As part of the talks, the parties exchanged views on the development of mountain and ski tourism, increasing cooperation among resorts, strengthening partnership relations, raising tourist appeal and preparing joint projects.
In addition, the sharing of knowledge and best practices, the creation of training programmes for specialist personnel, the development of marketing strategies, the organization of joint events, the creation of a common ski pass system and the expansion of the Union's membership structure were also discussed.
During the meeting, issues related to the development of the tourism sector in line with the Organization of Turkic States' "Turkic World Vision 2040" and "OTS 2022–2026 Strategy" were also discussed.
