On 18 February, the First Turkic States Ski Cup was successfully held at the Amirsoy Ski Resort in Uzbekistan. This important event became a historic milestone for the development and promotion of winter sports in the Turkic world.
This event was organized under the auspices of the Organization of Turkic States by the founding members of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States — the Amirsoy Ski Resort (Uzbekistan), the Shahdag Ski Resort (Azerbaijan), the Shymbulak Ski Resort (Kazakhstan) and the Uludağ Ski Resort (Türkiye).
At the opening ceremony of the event, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev delivered the opening speech. The Secretary General emphasized that the foundation of this tournament was laid in September 2024 in Istanbul, where the managers of the Turkic states' ski resorts signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Union of Ski Resorts of the Turkic States with the aim of developing ski tourism, sharing experience and organizing joint events.
This initiative was also welcomed at the level of heads of state through the Bishkek Declaration adopted at the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
The Turkic States Ski Cup made an important contribution to demonstrating high-level sporting performance, strengthening regional solidarity and promoting the growing potential of ski tourism in the member countries.
The aim is for this event, which brought together more than 50 winter sports enthusiasts from the member states, to become a traditional event held regularly every year and to further strengthen the region's position on the global winter sports stage.
