On 23 September, a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts was signed in Istanbul.
According to the document, the chairmanship and the Secretariat of the Union for the initial two-year period have been entrusted to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by representatives of mountain resorts from Azerbaijan (“Shahdag” Tourism Center), Türkiye (Uludağ), Uzbekistan (Amirsoy), and Kazakhstan (Shymbulak).
During the meeting, the participating delegations delivered presentations on the potential and tourism attractiveness of the mountain resorts they represent, highlighting their development opportunities.
Within the framework of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on a range of issues, including the development of mountain resorts in the context of tourism advancement, the expansion of cooperation between the resorts, the strengthening of partnership relations, the enhancement of tourist attractiveness, the preparation of joint projects, the exchange of information and best practices, the establishment of training programmes for professional specialists, the development of marketing strategies, the organisation of joint events, the creation of a unified ski pass system, and the expansion of the membership of the Union.
The meeting also included discussions on the development of tourism in the Turkic states in accordance with the “Turkic Vision – 2040” and the “Development Strategy of the Turkic States for 2022–2026” of the Organization of Turkic States.
