First UTSR Summit Brings Together Leading Ski Resorts of the Turkic World

The 1st Summit of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts was held on July 12 with the support of the Organization of Turkic States.

The main purpose of the event was to share common cultural, historical, and geographical ties among the ski resorts of Turkic States within the framework of the Union; to stimulate the mutual development of mountain and winter tourism; to achieve sustainable economic growth in both winter and summer tourism; to establish collaborative partnerships; and to support the promotion of mountain resorts that are members of the Union. Additionally, the goal was to contribute to the development of ski tourism among Turkic-speaking states, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of Turkic countries in this field.

The summit took place at the Shahdag Tourism Center and was attended by officials from the Organization of Turkic States and the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as leaders and representatives of mountain resorts from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Kyrgyzstan.

As part of the summit, panel discussions and various presentations were held on topics such as the development of mountain and winter tourism in member countries, overcoming seasonality, promoting winter sports, improving the quality of tourism education, and training new professionals.
During the event, membership certificates were presented to newly admitted resorts, and the establishment of the Ski Journalists Club under the Union of Ski Resorts of Turkic-Speaking States was officially initiated.

It should be noted that the Union of the Turkic Ski Resorts was established last September with the support of the Organization of Turkic States. The Union includes Azerbaijan’s Shahdag Tourism Center, Uzbekistan’s Amirsoy, Kazakhstan’s Shymbulak, and Turkey’s Uludağ Mountain Resorts.
